Here's a short summary of what it's like to visit our plant. We give tours often, so please let us know if you'd like to visit us soon.
Facility:
When visitors enter our building, they often say it’s not like any manufacturing plant they’ve ever seen. It’s modern in its design and materials; it’s immaculately clean; and it’s designed to help our team work at maximum efficiency.
Business Offices:
In the business area of our facility, we have a porcelain floor – which cannot be scratched by metal shavings and never needs polishing. A muralist created a custom work that covers an entire wall and is based on engineering drawings by Leonardo DaVinci. We have a large replica of Diego Rivera’s “Detroit Industry” mural which depicts the manufacturing process at Ford Motor Company in the 1930s.
The Shop:
Upon entering our 66,000 square feet shop, visitors note that it’s brightly lit and well laid out. The entire facility is climate controlled and the shop houses a central mist collection unit. We have yellow demarked traffic aisles that are laid out in a criss-cross pattern accommodating people and part traffic efficiently. These aisles are cleaned daily. Our primary focus in the shop from front to back and top to bottom is cleanliness and orderliness based on lean principles.
Job Processing:
All new jobs go through our Advance Process and Quality Planning process (APQP). All department heads germane to the job gather to walk through the sequential manufacturing steps. Each manager contributes his/her expertise so that the end result is a well thought out and robust process. This process is delineated on our “Blue Routing” sheet and attending documents.
Employee Amenities:
Lester Thurow said, “Skilled people become the only sustainable competitive advantage.” Our highly trained workforce is the lifeblood of our company, and we treat them accordingly. Employees are recognized for both team and individual accomplishments. We have awards for attendance, production awards, and academic achievement just to name a few. We also set team goals that are recognized by group activities, such as free lunch days, BBQ, and company sponsored vacation and trips.
We have an on-site workout facility and high end locker and shower room where we provide soap, shampoo, towels, and large lockers that are numbered so the uniform supply company can deliver uniforms sequentially. In our large lunch room, we have colorful modern furniture, 10 microwaves so you never wait in line, and the cabinet drawer handles are color coded so you don’t have to guess where the forks are located.
Equipment:
Our equipment is new and modern and we invest in the latest technology when it becomes available. Our equipment has an average age of 9.6 years old.
We maintain all of our equipment with written fixed-interval preventative maintenance schedules and use original equipment repair parts. We have written records of type of repair, downtime, and cost of repair.
