On October 24th, Fitzpatrick Mfg. Co. proudly sponsored a panel event held by the Sterling Heights Economic Development Dept. and the Macomb County Dept. of Planning & Economic Development. This event addressed the workforce challenges faced by area manufacturers. Two key topics discussed were how Michigan Works can assist local businesses with recruitment needs and how Macomb Community College can help train new workers and upgrade the skills of an existing labor force. The turnout for this event was great, with approximately 36 attendees representing 17 businesses. Our very own President, Kevin LaComb, participated in the panel, which was rounded out by presentations by Dupont Performance Coatings and Gentz Aerospace. It was agreed by everyone that hearing how all three businesses put these resources to use to help them recruit, retain, and train their workers was very helpful.
