New lathes and milling machines improve throughput for precision CNC machined components.
Due to the growth of our business and our desire to continually upgrade and modernize our equipment, Fitzpatrick Mfg. Co. recently installed 4 new machines; two Doosan Puma 2600 lathes and two Haas VF2SS milling machines. Based on extensive research and prior experience with these brands we feel these machines are the best value for the performance we require.
The Doosan lathes are their newest models. They are noticeably faster than the prior models in most every respect; from turret indexing to axis motion. The machines have a larger working envelope than the Puma 280 they replace, yet have a smaller footprint on the floor. We are very impressed with these machines and expect them to perform very well for us.
The Haas VF2SS mills are the second and third we have purchased of the re-engineered design. These particular machines have greatly improved chip evacuation with the addition of two side augers. Coolant leaks are also noticeably diminished. The modern safety features on these machines is something we still need to get comfortable with, thankfully if does not seem to be a major impediment to setting up and operating the machines. All in all, we are very pleased with our new equipment and look forward to improving our throughput and quality with these new machines.
